What to do to your MLM Sales Funnel before you start generating traffic

It has always been my belief that you should have a developed sales funnel prior to beginning any sort of traffic generation, otherwise your efforts on traffic generation maybe effectively wasted. You’ll find many, many trainings on traffic generation, all saying how much traffic you can get to your website, your blog etc, but what real use is getting traffic to your site if they’re not joining a database or leading to sales? Exactly! There is no point; it’s like setting up a shopping centre with no shops.

When you stop to think about it, traffic generation takes effort or money and there’s no point spending that time or money when you don’t have a sales funnel to support that traffic. In other words you want to make the most out of the effort that you put into your traffic through setting a series of steps that you want your prospect to take once they enter your site.

So from this theory we can make the assumption that you need to have some sort of sales funnel in place prior to beginning to generation traffic to your website. What I thought I would do now is share with you the key aspects that you need to have developed prior to sending traffic to your website, with the key purpose of at least offsetting your marketing costs and/or time invested.

1. Develop your free and low end products

Ok first up you need a clear understanding of exactly what you are going to offer your target market. In other words you need a free training that leads into your low end product. Your low end product is generally priced between $10 to $30, is usually some sort of information product that is a training. The idea is that this product offsets your marketing expenses and provides valuable information to your target market.

2. Set up your website, list manager, squeeze pages and sales pages

Now you have developed your initial products you need to develop your website (I recommend using wordpress.org), where you are going to house your list (I recommend using aweber.com), your squeeze page (sign up page for your free product) and also your sales page (page where they can buy your low end product.

Ultimately you can determine the content of your website, however should really speak to your target market and not what you provide. Additionally you want to push your free product and make your prospect sign up for access to that, and then lead them to your sales page (whether through sending e-mails or directly linking them there after they sign up to your free training).

If you haven’t heard, I’m about to have a massive launch related to developing your online sales funnel and your online business. For details click here.

The importance of relationship building for your MLM Sales Funnel

Ok, I’ve written a lot about building online structures, whether its websites, aspects of your sales funnel or generating traffic, however one of the most important aspects of your MLM sales funnel is your ability to build relationships with those people that visit your website and that are on your list.

No matter what you’re doing online whether its traffic generation, building/launching products or product delivery your long term online success is always going to stem back to your ability to build relationships. As you know and I’ve said before your no matter what your business, 80% of your business is going to come from 20% of your customers. If you can’t establish this loyal 20% of customers then you will be forever fighting an uphill battle to Sales Funnel Success within MLM industry.

Therefore whenever you do something online, create something, post something or speak to someone you have to always keep this principle in mind and approach your list or your customers from a relationship building point of view. I guess you could say that this principle is very seldom talked about but always implied or assumed that you understand this. However I wanted to highlight to you to make sure that you do this, because it’s an extremely important part to ANY business, MLM being no exception.

So how do you do it? You should be approaching every situation online with giving people value and in particular each person should be leaving more informed, more enlightened, enriched and/or have a higher degree of understanding. Additionally your personality needs to shine through in your posts, your products and your website. Don’t be afraid to let people see the real you, because when it comes to your MLM sales funnel, nothing is more attractive to someone that been able to relate to the leader that is teaching them.

You need to become a leader, become dedicated to helping people to succeed, providing outstanding customer service and at the same time having fun and letting people see you for who you are.

What should you outsource for your MLM Sales Funnel

When it comes to internet marketing, outsourcing seems to get talked about a lot, but often people enter into doing this with very little plan for how they are going to manage their staff and what exactly you want the outsourcer to do. Ok, if you’re just starting out or even if you’ve been round a while but not had much success, then your top priority both now and potentially in the next 12 to 24 months is effectively developing your MLM sales funnel.

So you may or may not have established that you need to expand your network marketing sales funnel. If you haven’t then I recommend learning more about developing a MLM Sales Funnel (Insert link). However, if you have ultimately decided that you need to get more sales, cash or leads into your business obviously this is going to be done through further development of your sales funnel.

The number one priority for any network marketer beginning to develop their online business, is to determine what their strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to online and for that matter offline skills. In other words you really need to be doing things that you are good at or if you’re unsure about that, then its things that will make you more money. For a network marketer generally that will be creating products, finding new and improved ways of generating traffic and building relationships.

Ultimately when it comes to internet marketing, the process can be broken down into industry research, creating products, building websites/graphics, generating traffic, product delivery, customer service and sales/monetization. To be honest any and every step in this process can be outsourced, however when you are just beginning in this industry, this is simply not an option. Therefore I would highly recommend beginning with outsourcing building websites/graphics, in particular the more complex parts of websites, like html, css, including sales pages. This will ultimately help you with conversions.

Beyond that you should begin to generate traffic, find what works well then outsource these so that you can concentrate on new ways to generate traffic and increase conversions. Additionally put in place a good customer service person, who can trouble shoot customer problems and deal with servicing the customers. You can eventually expand from there but that is without a doubt the best places to start.

Traditional Network Marketing vs Online Network Marketing: A personal account

Firstly, I sincerely want to put two sides of this issue forward as this is one of the continually hotly debated topics amongst traditional network marketers and online network marketers, but at the same time I will be giving my personal account and obviously my point of view.

Now, I come from a unique standpoint in the fact that I started off as a traditional network marketer, moved to become an online network marketer then directed back to traditional but now am back online. So it’s fair to say that I have seen both sides of network marketing retrospectively and in context.

As a personal opinion I believe that the industry does hold the key for a lot of people to creating financial freedom for themselves. There is no other business or investment that is so accessible in terms of time or money commitment and that holds both the key to the success and failure for everyone within the industry.

When I first got involved in this industry, I immediately saw the potential and the capability that this business model has for anyone willing to put in the work to make it work. However as many have experienced it doesn’t take long for reality when trying to build a network marketing business.

No matter what way you look at it there are very few people that are interested or motivated to grow this business model. Many people have heard of it, a percentage a willing to take a look, but of those willing to take a look about 5% make any sort of meaningful income out of it. The question is why?

Let’s be honest for a second, 95% of the turnover in this industry comes from traditional network marketing, so its still very much ahead of online methods. Therefore really traditional network marketing, at this point in time must shoulder the blame for these bad statistics, because surely not every one of the 95% that doesn’t succeed are the wrong people? My point here isn’t to point the finger at traditional network marketing, it is to highlight the fact that something is wrong, these statistics speak volumes and you simply can’t dismiss these people as the wrong people.

As I said above I moved away from online methods to traditional network marketing for a small amount of time for a number of reasons, but primarily it was going through the internet marketing learning process alone and because I was convinced by my upline that its not duplicatable. Ah ha! That right there is the biggest argument that traditional network marketers use that falls outside their system.

After giving traditional network marketing another concerted effort and evaluating this way of doing business I began to realise some very important things. Firstly the people that are successful and I mean truly successful have methods of attracting people to them. Secondly, very few people “prospects” are actual quality people that you have to talk to. Thirdly, you waste an incredible amount of time making phone calls, travelling to destinations, attending meetings, coaching your propectings, evaluating your business etc.

The statistics of those who are going to build a network marketing business and those that don’t just don’t add up. Why would you possible waste so much time with people who are never going to do anything? You’re meant to leverage the system, but I still see so many people spending more than full time hours trying to get their business off the ground, and yet most of their team fades away.

For most people this sad reality is simply enough and the fact of the matter is it was for me as well, additionally I had seen a better way and I headed back to it. The reality is that the internet has been around in a significant way for business in general for at least a decade, and yet very few companies within the network marketing industry have truly moved to embrace it. It has only been the moves of a couple of true leaders that have given hope to many struggling traditional network marketers, and hence have been the catalyst for inspiring me to inspire others as well.

Of those that fail traditionally, there are undoubtedly a large proportion that fail to see and treat their network marketing business as a real business and this is another pitfall with the traditional network marketing model. While following a system is important, following it completely blindly is detrimental to the ability for people to take ownership. Instead of making any decisions or being innovative, any new distributor is simply encouraged to put their list together, shut up and follow their upline’s instructions as to who to speak to and when to speak to them. The fact of the matter is, there are people who you instinctually feel it is appropriate or inappropriate to speak to about this business model and you shouldn’t feel pressure to speak to those that you don’t feel it is appropriate.

Although I have clearly found that there are a lot of negatives to the traditional network marketing model, the overwhelming positive that I have found is that having direct contact with people and surrounding yourself in real life with positive people is very important. This aspect is obviously something that the internet cannot replace and where traditional networking has a clear advantage of online network marketing.

Additionally the learning curve of becoming successful online is harder, there’s more to learn, there’s a lot of different trainings out there and without direction you can jump from training to training and end up with a massive headache without anything to show for it.

So you really must way up these pros and cons when ultimately making your decision about how to build your business. As a traditional business owner I know how much of an impact the internet is having on business and feel that some point in time the internet is going to have a massive impact on network marketing, as we already see it doing. The fact of the matter is, online network marketing is very much still in it’s infancy and that’s exciting.

In terms of overcoming the negatives of online network marketing, if your network marketing company has offline events, go to them, not every week but attend the key ones, like weekend seminars etc. Also start to attend other business seminars in particularly internet marketing events. Start to think and act like a business owner and therefore invest in offline events for your personal development. The next important aspect is to have a mentor or accountability partner for keeping you on track online and also helping you with your direction. You would do this in any traditional or network marketing business and this is therefore important for your online network marketing business.

Ultimately the decision is up to you, but no matter what make the decision for you, not your upline, not your company, but for you. For anymore information, to stay in contact with me, to get notified when I’m mentoring people or to get my free training feel free to click here.

Why you don’t have a network marketing sales funnel

Through working with my team and consulting with a number of people in the home based business industry, I often find it surprising that a lot of people within the network marketing industry don’t entirely understand the importance of an online sales funnel. However you look around at other industries and this seems to be a phenomenon that is congruent across both traditional and network marketing industries, with one important exception. In a traditional business sense the business owner has a service or product that they are offering, and hence they have a part of their sales funnel in place.

The underlying tendency for a network marketer online is to approach online the exactly the same way as they would approach offline MLM building. This is the ultimate cause of the problem, in other words there is a lack of strategy when it comes to their online sales funnel. When you look at offline network building strategies, it solely concentrates on the number of people you “expose” and therefore sponsor.

Let me tell you right now that these figures are almost irrelevant to your online network marketing sales funnel. When you are moving your business online, there are more figures you need to worry about, but this will ultimately increase the quality and quantity of people you sponsor. Initially you need to stop worrying about the number of people you are sponsoring, but instead, what process you are going to take your prospects through, what value you are going to offer, what makes you unique and how you are going to deliver that value. In other words you want to set your business up to the point where people are asking to join you instead of you having to chase people and find prospects.

Again this all comes back to your ability to deliver value; if you concentrate on delivering value then you can truly write your own ticket to a success MLM business and a successful network marketing sales funnel. The key ingredients you need as part of your sales funnel are free, low end, mid range and high end products, sponsoring people in your MLM should always be the last step in your funnel.

Before you continue you need to understand the key elements in a sales funnel, so make sure you check out my free audio training if you haven’t already done so, with much more exciting and free trainings to come  :) .

The critical element your mlm sales funnel is missing

Ok, so you’ve heard me talk about sales funnels for a long time, in particular how these relate to the home based business or MLM industry. Let me start off by saying that the shift of people doing network marketing offline to online is definitely underway. I actually see old school marketers attempting to do things online because they can see that there is leverage there, the problem is that they are still trying to learn from their company how to do it, yet their company has no or little idea either.

However there is a growing trend towards attraction marketing and self branding which is giving networkers the opportunity to brand themselves and create a business for themselves online. The major problem is that very few are truly capitalising on this opportunity within their sales funnels. A true sales funnel in any business sense has in essence different levels where people enter your business, consume and continue to move through and consume some more. The BIGGEST problem within the MLM industry at the moment is not enough people are capitilising on this or giving enough value for people to consume.

Think about this… Think about someone who is a guru of online MLM. Do they have their own products? Do they have multiple products? The answer is yes and yes! Now think about someone who is a good networker but not a guru. Do they have their own products? Chances are they probably don’t or they are just starting to catch on that they need them so they are starting to put them out.

The people that are making waves online have something different from the field, they’ve actually have their own product or service that they are delivering to the market. However the reason why they are so successful is that they’ve actually kept this secret, because they have so many people who use their system solely or are sole affiliates of them.

I’m not saying that their products are no good and i’m not saying don’t affiliate market. In fact quite on the contrary. These guys are good because they’ve found out what’s missing in the market, created something to fill that need and then marketed like crazy and managed to get big followings.

So really, what i’m saying is that the critical element missing in 99% of online mlmers sales funnel’s is simple, their own product! If you purely just affiliate market or use a replicated system what you are in fact doing is allowing another leader to upstage you and market to your prospects. They become the authority and not you. You want to make it big? Great! Become the authority, talk to your market, come up with a solution and then market it!

It’s a relationships business…

Affiliate programs, downlines, recruiting, retailing, systems, I could go one! The home business industry is plagued with endless terms, catch phrases, promises and more failures than successes.

The problem that so many people forget is that the home business industry is about building relationships with people. When you get started within this industry it is extremely easy to build out of desperation and emotions and get in the mindset of exposing the business and getting people in.

You may have some success but I guarantee that if your mindset is set like this then you are going to hit a stumbling block at some stage. Because you are so emotionally driven each turn down is going to be a kick in the guts and its going to feel like your heart is been ripped out of your chest.

Additionally if you are too focused on your own success and not on the success of others it is going to show through in everything you do, including the way you present yourself to potential prospects and it’s not going to attract the people you want to attract either.

The answer to overcoming this phenomenon is to truly focus on delivering value to others and helping others. My personal belief is that if you truly care about the success of others and helping others to achieve their own goals then you will be successful, no matter if it’s in the home business industry or any other business.

If you are serious about your home business then you will commit to your own education and making yourself more valuable to your target market. By becoming more valuable you instantly become more attractive to your potential target market.

It ultimately comes back to the law of give and receive, if you commit to giving your value then you will receive the benefits from that in the future. It wasn’t until that I realised this that success was possible.

Magnetic Sponsoring Reviewed

If you are in the network marketing industry then its highly likely that you’ve come across Mike Dillard’s magnetic sponsoring course. Now whether you have purchased this product or not, it has to be the leading internet marketing building product for network marketers currently on the market.

In terms of a tool for a network marketer, this has to almost be mandatory. Whenever I have a new business partner come on board and work with me this is the first tool that I recommend that the person buys. The reason for this is that Magnetic Sponsoring focuses on the change in mindset from a traditional network marketer to a network marketer using the internet to grow their business.

The primary principle of this training is to change from a prospector into an attraction marketer, from a person building out of desperation, into a true industry leader. When Magnetic Sponsoring talks about these key elements it hits home very true to what a potential leader within the industry truly needs to do.

Obviously Mike has a lot of other tools as well (ultimately all of which I’m more than happy to recommend), hence Magnetic Sponsoring is truly just a starting point. Ultimately if you are going to be successful with building your network marketing business online then it truly requries a knowledge of internet marketing principles, so the thing that Magnetic Sponsoring probably could highlight a little better it would be the training required to build an internet network marketing business.

However, in saying that this Magnetic Sponsoring is an absolutely must. If you haven’t purchased it yet make sure you click here to get Magnetic Sponsoring.
